For thousands of years, genetically modification microorganism has affected many of the products humans eat every day. It began with the tameness of animals. As humans grew into an agricultural company, they start breeding different strains of plants looking to receive the best possible plants for sustenance for people. But as a scientific understanding of breeding and technology grew their methods of altering plants and animals changed. Instead, of breeding two similar types of creatures or plants together, scientists and engineers can immediately modify the transmitted sequence of the DNA of a species. Altering plants and specific crops for food supply has raised many ethical and possible safety issues with the consumers that need to be discussed. This paper will discuss the GMO basis, ethical dilemmas associated with GMO, and my personal viewpoint. GMO Biology Basis Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms of living things whose DeoxyriboNucleic Acid (DNA) has been changed by humans using the techniques of genetic technology. The tool for creating a GMO is called the recombinant DNA technique. Which is combining strands of DNA that come from different sources to create a new DNA molecule that has a dissimilar combination of genes which occurs naturally. The newly created DNA is then inserted into a living organism such as plants, animals or an egg or sperm that will result in a genetically modified organism.
